Projects › African Energy Efficiency

This project enables us to provide low energy light bulbs to parts of Kenya. These bulbs typically use around 20% of the energy used by incandescent bulbs. Given the energy mix in the project areas (largely fossil fuel generators) this provides a large carbon saving. The recipients of the bulbs benefit from lower energy bills and the far greater life of low energy bulbs, avoiding the cost and waste of frequent replacements. Under this project it takes two bulbs four years to save 1 tonne of CO2.
