Going Green set to be made easier
Monday 1st October 2007
Installing a wind turbine or solar panels to help your business reduce your carbon footprint are set to be made easier, after the Government announced changes to planning rules to install green technologies. Work is being carried out to ensure that the planning system is doing more to encourage the use of renewable energy, removing barriers to installing small-scale renewable and low carbon technology equipment.
Current planning applications can cost about £1,500 and take eight to sixteen weeks to be considered by councils. Ideas being looked into include allowing renewable energy equipment being installed with no need for specific planning permission as long as there is clearly no impact on others or the local environment.
